6 feet high fences are more popular in most new communities and allow for adequate privacy while remaining cost effective. Sometimes a five foot fence is installed if your home backs onto a field or you prefer a slightly shorter fence. Almost any fence design can add lattice to the top to increase privacy and fence height. Choose between 4×4, 5×5 or 6×6 inch posts.
Most basic fences have 4×4 inch posts. This is the most cost effective option and typically gives the fence enough support for most uses. The best size post is a 6×6. It has the most strength and it is a lot more concrete also and the post will not fall over in high winds. Bigger posts will also tend to last a few years longer.
